Erect penis. Coloured computed tomography (CT) scan of an erect human penis (upper centre). The scan shows a horizontal slice through the upper thigh area. Taking up most of the picture are the thigh muscles. The areas outlined in dark blue are the thigh bones (outer left and right) and ischium bones (inner left and right) of the lower pelvis. CT scans are made from multiple X-rays combined together on computer to create a reconstruction of the body that can be sliced in any direction.
